I need some help/opinions. I am in Big Brothers Big Sisters and my little brother is is getting ready to turn 16 and start driving in January.

I made a deal with him a while back that we would get his trailblazer back in shape because it has been sitting for a while, idles rough and just needs some TLC. His dad died when he was a toddler and has had no one to show him around a vehicle. So we are going to try to do everything we can get done in a weekend.

I don't know much about a 2005 trailblazer. Do you guys have any suggestions as far as maintenance that we should make sure to concentrate on. It has a 125,000 miles and has had nothing done to it except oil changes.

Here are my thoughts, let me know what I am missing...

Oil Change
Fuel filter
Check the Antifreeze
Rotate tires/Check pressure
Clean the MAF
Change Air filter
Plugs???
Detail it

What else????

How long is a while?

I'd flush/bleed the brakes with new fluid and also inspect the pad and/ or drum linings. The kid will need to stop every once and a while.

Inspect belts, bushings, ball joints, tire wear/ condition, lights(all of em).

Change trans filter/fluid.

*inspect/replace wiper blades*

Where can I get Seafoam? I have never done it.

Not that long. His older brother just stopped driving it and I think they practice with it every once and a while, but not much.

I think it is in pretty good shape. The interior looks great, especially considering it has been through 4 kids.

Yep, when you go to get your throttle body and MAF cleaner, just grab a can of Seafoam. Make sure you use the Seafoam before you change the oil though.

Sounds like you are on the right track. It's really cool of you to be helping the guy out. I hope he appreciates it.

Personally, I'd pass on the Seafoam. (just messin with Jenna)
