Ordered some battery mounts and fastened them to the frame rails under the front part of the bed. Close to the compressor and air tanks. Which I got installed and compressors plumbed to the tanks. I still need air management but that’s a $1500 pill that I’m not ready to swallow!

I ordered a bunch of Stainless 304 exhaust tubing and bends. Began mocking up the exhaust. I still need to order hangers but I used some nuts for spacers while I tacked and fit things in place. I’ll finish the welding when i get the hangers and spare time. But for now it’s mocked up with 12”...
Got a few days at home and had time to do a little.
Driveline has been on my mind for many months. The truck originally had the center support bearing that mounted parallel to the driveshaft. I never liked that and wanted to go with the version that mounted perpendicular to the shaft. Found a...
Thanks Torch,
It’s been so long ago that I did this write up, it may be a typo or may be a difference between models. I’m glad it helped you and thanks for adding your info here as well.
That was the intention of this thread anyway. A helpful tool with folks adding their experiences for future...
A little update, haven’t had but a few days to work on it in the past 7-8 months.
Picked up a 4.8 and 4L60E combo, so I guess it’s getting LS swapped!
Started messing with the raised bed floor.
Mounted the air tanks and have an idea of where to mount the compressors.
The list just keeps...
Hard to say for sure, but crawl under the truck and shake the driveshaft. Look for looseness in the U-joints, check the yoke at the rear diff and see if you have any play with the pinion bearing. Is there any signs of fluid leakage anywhere under there, especially at the tailshaft of the trans...
Ok gotcha.
I have no clue honestly, Tahoe’s aren’t the best for finding parts like that. Any custom body shops in your area? May have to swing by one and ask the pros.

You won’t find a kit to do that. You can buy spindles but control arms will be a custom build.
The rear is much the same, pretty much full custom and no off the shelf kits unfortunately. And most of those posted are body dropped too.
You’re looking at easily $30k probably more.

Man I wished!
I’ve been on the road more this year than last, with no sight of it letting up. Sometimes I wished i was a total **** up, then I wouldn’t get sent every where.

Thanks Jeff, I thought I’d never get back to working on the truck because the shop and work took all of my time up and money. Haha

It’s a long way from finished but it’s nice to finally see something getting done.
Custom set of axles from Moser have been shipped. I’ll mocked up the rear wheels and brakes next. Then send the rear diff out for powder coating.
Cab has more metal work to be done because the tires will hit the...
Brought the frame rails out and started finishing up the welding.
Got rid of those hideous factory mounting points for the steering sector. Always hated when people go with rack and pinion and you still see all the original bumps in the frame.
Carried a bunch of stuff to the powder coater...
Gonna try to get up to date.
The shop is finally finished and it’s time to work in it instead of on it. Central heat and air, epoxy floor and the two post lift.
