2003 2wd with 135k on it. sold the corolla and bought this for an additional $500. Needed about 1300 in maintenance (tires, carrier bearing, and rack/pinion bushing) but I've still spent less than what it's worth. Can't wait to get some extra stuff installed (lights and a bed cover)

Got some new tires on the truck today. Oh, and since I didn't mention it, I'm BACK IN A TRUCK!

the truck will look good as long as you do SOMETHING to that grill guard. I personally think it could work if you cut off the light guards, but that's just me.

That's my bad I thought your sig was suggesting your truck was an 08. 05 isn't that surprising. I read about quite a few people having the issue early on but it is strange that your tranny hasn't gone by now. Hopefully it stays strong. :tmc:

sorry to hear that. I thought the 08s were supposed to be the better year of the 04-08 f150s. How did the gear oil look? Was it thick or still in good condition? anything you might think led up to this?

x2 easy fix if it just started and no permanent damage has been made. Otherwise it's gonna cost you a pretty penny on those vacuum lines and hubs + the solenoid. Here's a how to I wrote up on mine when I proactively replaced it. some people reuse the original solenoid if it isn't damaged and...

If you have a decent amount of experience and confidence its a fairly simple process. Plenty of videos out on it (youtube). I was gonna do it to my ranger but my mechanic did it free of charge when he installed my lift.

I would suggest doing it sooner than the next recommended, purely for ease of mind given that you can't be 100% sure whether or not the shavings are irregular or regular and the second change in the somewhat near future could help determine that.
