For the way I use a truck (lots of miles, mostly highway unloaded, with occasional towing of my camper or stock trailer) the diesel makes lots of sense.
My Hemi (390 hp, 407 ft-lbs) got 16-17 mpg and cost $1200 over the 4.7 when I bought my truck. The new 3.6 v6 costs $500 more than the 4.7...
I looked pretty hard at one before I bought my 2010 Ram.....I liked the way it drove, I just couldn't justify the $7k premium over the truck I bought. The sticker price on the Tundra was slightly higher, and the dealership wouldn't budge at all; the Dodge dealership dropped over $6k off sticker...
Was going to rotate my wife's tires on the Avenger yesterday.....8,500 miles on them and the back ones are down to the wear bars!
They were supposed to be 50k tires, so Discount said they will warranty them. I don't think I'll be buying Falkens again after these are shot (again).
Me too.....but there is no way to justify the substantial extra cost for the marginal improvement in fuel economy. If there was, I'd have an oil burner.
Dodge Charger would be my choice. You could pick up a decent used one for the price range you are looking at. They are large, relatively fast, rwd, and have an available v8. Even the v6 in the 11+ models is pretty quick and gets good gas mileage.
The only way it would help is if there was surface rust and you sanded and primed it prior to to application. Most of the time, rust in the rockers/fenders does come through from the inside.
I agree with this, but I don't think I would go over the wheel wells since it is 2wd.....unless you have some surface rust you are trying to get rid of. If you decide to do this, I might know someone who could give you some pointers....:dunno:
