While I don't have a 2500hd (my old man does with a dirtymax) i do have a supercharged 6.0 with a 4L80, headers, exhaust and a BB tune. If I was going to buy today based on towing 8,000ish lbs I would buy a duramax twice.
I love my truck. It runs like a raped ape for what it is. When I hook a...
I've heard rumors but I have not seen anything in stone.
I wouldn't hesitate on an 07-09 if the interior looks good. I believe most of the time you can tell how well a vehicle was maintained based off the interior.
Yes, the 80 vs 90 is really in a couple areas. They both have the same gear ratios in transmission. The 90 is just stronger. It's a little bigger transmission(longer). The 2500 will have 3.73/4.10 from the factory which will be to your advantage assuming you're planning on bigger tires...
I do think you're over estimating that what you need. Especially for the frequency. That being said there is nothing wrong with having more than you need.
Really the only down fall of the 2500 is going to be mileage, ride, and you lose some of luxuries of the Denali.
I feel like both will...
I'm all about the 6.2 with a supercharger. Didn't know that was an option  I personally will have a hard time having anything NA anymore.
Regardless, I truly think you will be happier with the Denali.
I just had a buddy of mine go out and count his. He has a 10 bolt. He has 2011 YDXL. He loves it by the way and pulls a camper multiple time per month in New Mexico.
I sent Justin a text asking him some questions. He is on his second. He had a regular YD and now an XL.
Pulling 2-3 times a...
Welcome to the site! ;)
How frequently do you plan to tow?
The 2500 is going to get way worse mileage than the 6.2. The 6.0 is a gas hog. I love mine, but it sucks for mileage.
I don't think for towing you will see a big difference in the power. The difference is going to be in the 6L90 vs...
I freaking love this transmission. Should have came from the factory this way. The gap between gears is so much better. It might not be quite as fast. Hard to say. It's definitely more drivable.
I also repainted my faded door trim. It made me want to vomit.

Did you talk to Jakes?
The customer service is great there. I was very impressed. Right now they have free shipping and $250 off if you buy a converter and trans.
No. They recommended the stage 2 for mine. No transbrake since I don't plan on ever doing more than a pass or two to see what it will run.
They are also building me a converter.
Yeah, it sucks, but it happened 5 minutes from the house and I wasn't crossing an intersection or hauling the car down 35.
I just have too much in front and behind this trans to hold up.
Well, I should have upgraded last year when my 4L70 went out, but that whole hindsight thing.
Saturday I was towing my trailer and a 1-2 shift went bang. Felt like I was rearended.
Well as of today a Jakes Performance 4L80e is on its way.
