Hey, if you still want to do it, then by all means, go for it. Your trucks, your money, your choice, I'm just passing along info that I found when I considered doing it with mine.
Just showing what I discovered a few years ago when I wanted to put a plow on my GMC and found that nobody sold a kit for it. :dunno:
Could be the ones you see up there have been strengthened with gussets. Could be they're using fiberglass plows (lighter weight, and the weight bouncing...
Just an FYI... You can't (well, you can but...) mount a plow on GM pickups before about 2009. The frames end up cracking from the weight and vibration. You can have a welder gusset the frame to reinforce it and prevent the cracks, but no major plow company sells plows for them, so you'd have...
Do it right or don't do it at all. Get yourself a decent Edelbrock Dual Plane and a nice Carter 4bbl. You won't break the bank on those and the performance increase is well worth it.
(You are doing headers and full flow exhaust, right? 'cause what goes in, must come out.)
I got impatient, so I hooked 'em up and took a ride out to my buddy's house who lives in the middle of a soybean field. I forgot the utility company installed a streetlight in his yard, but you can still see how the lights worked out. The rears are a pair of 27 watt LED floods.
New lights...
Added 4 new 10 watt LED floodlights, two on each side of the box.

They aren't wired yet. I need to wait for the silicone sealant to cure where the wires come through first, and mount the...
All of a sudden, 11.5 mpg in my '99 doesn't sound too bad, considering the size and weight of it. Of course, it's a diesel, so I'm already paying about 40 cents a gallon more than regular. :(
Perfect sleeper cars... Only one I ever had that was better was my dad's 1969 Mercury Marquis wagon... with the 429 Cobra Jet under the hood. Won me a few bets with that one, lemme tell ya... :D2
It was... 1970 Fury III hardtop 4 door.
Pretty much this (same color even) but with a bashed in grille and hood (radiator was fine though and I held it closed with a logging chain and big padlock), dents in all the body panels, rust in the rear quarters, 9ft. CB whip, racing stickers all over...
Two biggest problems I had were getting that power to the pavement (the back end wasn't tubbed, so I was limited on how much rubber I could put back there) and snapping motor mounts on a regular basis. :wookie:
Damn, I miss that car. Looked like a piece of junk (beater body, full of rust...
If it were me? I'd see if I could find myself a set of the old Chrysler W2 heads, a Crane "Torker" cam, good MSD or Accel ESD ignition, a good set of headers, roller chain set, roller rockers and lifters, bore the block if needed and top it with an Edelbrock dual plane Performer and double...
