Also some way to know when you reach a low fuel level might also be mandated back there, either a regular fuel meter or a manual tap. Even back here in this end of the world it is required.
For such a long commuting you should also take a look at a Passat TDI. Enought cab room and a trunk big enought to also fit a WVO kit to decrease your fuel bills :jester:
It might be not so hard to take some weight off of newer trucks. It's even possible to make a tougher frame using less raw materials, such as a truss-frame instead of a ladder-frame or a backbone-frame similar to the one used in Czech-made Tatra trucks. Alternative materials such as fiberglass...
It's not so hard to do so. Just add an instrument cluster, turning and reverse lights, and a properly enclosed cab depending on where you're intending to get it registered.
Earlier ones were quite poor-looking, but current ones are nice. Better than the Captiva Sport (a rebadged Opel Antara) currently offered in the American market only for fleet buyers.
