    Let's Talk Cars

I like wagons, as long as they're big enought to fit a coffin with the back seat fold-down  I actually like the design of the current Fusion, but the older one being more classical tends to not look so outdated at all

Chevy brings back the diesel car...

GM could do it better. It's gonna face some tough competition not only from Volkswagen, which already has an advantage in its class due to the absence of the SCR in the Jetta, but also probably from the Mazda3 which is rumored to get either the current 2.2L SkyActiv-D (more powerful, torquey and...

Why Do Family Cars Need 300 Horsepower?

The main problem, after all, is that that "one size fits all" policy that has been performed by the automakers, and the gov't back there thru CAFE, CARB and EPA. I never said neither the V6 or V8 engines should be phased out, but other options could be available for other customers who would...

That's what should come from the factory, not as an aftermarket way to blow more money from Corvette buyers.

Why Do Family Cars Need 300 Horsepower?

You're right, nobody shouldn't just dictate what we should buy. I'm not trying to tell you to get rid of your Caddy just because it has a V8, I was just pointing out that a smaller engine could work for other people if it was available

Why Do Family Cars Need 300 Horsepower?

Many soccer-moms get a Tahoe but never tow not even an empty supermarket cart, why would they need anything bigger than the Vortec 4300?

Why Do Family Cars Need 300 Horsepower?

Then a smaller engine can provide the same power and torque, or even better, than some older ones. And also saving some weight :dan: There's no really need for any engine with more than 6 cylinders in many of the new cars (and even trucks and SUVs) sold back there in America.

Post up some custom big rigs

If even the local truck makers phased out the cabovers back there, probably the FH won't be offered there. But maybe the independent front suspension can be introduced to the US-spec Volvo trucks.

Post up some custom big rigs

Now it's working. BTW this new Volvo FH series seems to be a good evolution, I like the independent front suspension.

:withstupid: And they're often even lighter and more compact than a comparable OHC. The old Vortec 5700, in spite of having an iron block, was lighter than the Toyota V8 used in the Lexus LS400 with its quad-cam layout and aluminium block.

Cool article about one of my favorite vehicles.

The Comanche is extremely rare back here, I've only seen a handful of them in Amazon. Its frame is often pointed out as an under-rated design.

:withstupid: Altough they're often bashed for retaining an old-school OHV valvetrain, they sound way better than many quad-cam V8's from other manufacturers.
