I said it would feel like 50 with the gear swap and other mods. (depending on the gears he has now and tire size) I think with intake, exhaust, programmer you didn't mention, and TB he would see 30hp
Can't really include the gears in with it. They won't give the engine any power. So with $2k it would feel like 50hp depending on what gears he has now.
Complete cold air intake (not a cheap one) $200-$300
Throttlebody $150-$175
Programmer $250-$375
Gears $600-800 (if that's still right, it's been a while)
The price for the gears dosn't include install. You are looking at another $400 for install in my area. Might be more or less where you are.
A little bit of back pressure is good for a street vehicle that your not gonna have your foot into all the time. Also on rare occasion with smaller street engines with smaller valves that there's the risk of bending a valve due to cold air back flowing through the exhaust to the valves...
I know the year models a little newer than yours have can tunes. Not sure about yours. If there's a reputable performance shop around your area I'm sure they can tune it.
Intake, exhaust, programmer, maybe an aftermarket throttle body. Will give you around 30 more hp. The gears won't give your motor anymore power but just help put the power to the wheels.
I wouldn't do straight pipes.
All honesty, I'd just do the simple things and be happy with it. Got to pay to play. Your gonna run into problems and end up forking up big money for repairs
150,000 miles, I'd rebuild the lower and top end with stock parts at the least. Low boost the motor should handle it. If you have the money rebuild it and find forged aftermarket parts but still keep the boost to a minimum.
Then what? It sucks.. After basic bolt ons you are stuck with way overpriced heads and internals. Best mod for it is the supercharger they make for it.
I like the look of the Tacoma better anyway.
For your truck,, nothing. TB spacers don't do any good on newer vehicles. It literally does nothing.
Intake, exhaust, programmer. Find out what gears you have. A gear swap would help bring out your bottom end.
Toyota has throttle issues an cant stop. Jeep has fire hazards and control arm issues. Fords most expensive truck has a weak bending frame. Gm has a fire hazard.
They all suck. Gm sucks just a little less though :jester:
