Been working on the Mercruiser boat oil pan some .. It had a huge lug casted in at the front .. Seen no need for it for my application, chopped it off and dressed in the grooves .. Cleaning it up for fresh paint ... Might turn out looking fairly nice when done .. Soon to find out how...

Okay ... Looks like the firewall will be seeing the Hi-Octane red ... Got a little wait to save up the doe, cause that paint ain't cheap .. Eek !! Meanwhile finally finished the steering column .. This was a super long journey .. Nailed down the last needed item today and installed it ...

Should have the aluminum boat oil pan Monday ... Got some work and parts to buy before it's nailed on ... Windage plate and dipstick been in the thinktank .. Plus extending the oil pump pickup tube ... Might be able to find the pickup tube from Mercruiser and the dipstick ??

Got the return spring installed .. Wasn't the best of fits, will work okay ..

The paint is Chevy Red Orange, have no clue what years Chevy used this color ?? Did find a bit of info on it .. In the early years of production, Chevrolet engines were painted red-orange, including the 265, 283, and 327 engines. Do like it better than the traditional orange.

Doesn't look all that bad, kind of a factory custom valve covers. I like them better than most of the aftermarket's .. Powder coat gave somewhat of a new look, they was a bit rough to start off with ..
