The beast is back under the knife

Rear springs coming off to be reworked, Baer Brakes ordered with 2" drop spindles, new front springs ordered. Bilstien shocks ordered for all 4 corners, 2" rear lowering kit. As soon as everything gets here, I'll be busy for a bit.

The beast is back under the knife

So here's where I need some help. I think I have found my tranny, 4l80e stage 5 from Jake's performance, from what I have read, they are about the best in the high hp stuff. Also, have to get the 0411 computer tuned, I have lost the information on the guy that I had do it the first time. I...

The beast is back under the knife

Okay, so it's been a while, but decided on a transmission, jake's performance stage 5 4l80e. Also picked the intake manifold. Sorry, I've been doing a lot of traveling recently and my builder has not been pushing, well mostly because I've been traveling and not around. The supercharger will...

Here's the heads: And the block: The build is on the way! Rods, pistons, and crank when they arrive. The heads are going to be flowed, and built shortly. More pics to come.

Um, you want pics of a bare block and heads? Or the empty engine compartment of my truck?

The beast is back under the knife

Yeah, so I've been told, I'm worried about street-ability and fuel delivery once I move to the f series. Also the constant maintenance on the f series vs the d series. Still thinking it through though.

Heads are edelbrock 23 degree high port heads, stamped with chapman racing, CBC ported.

The beast is back under the knife

Jenna, I am interested in pricing. 1DSC with universal inter cooler and tubes, small block accessory brackets with A/C, enclosed race valve with steel bracket, and competition hat. Nothing polished. I'm thinking about powder coating.

The beast is back under the knife

Spent some time with my engine builder today, discussed possibly doing a LS engine as well as some other ideas. The final plan settled on was a set of edelbrock heads, these are cnc ported and monster 23 degree heads. The intake valve looks big enough to set a beer can in. The block will be...

The beast is back under the knife

So, a small update. We will be using a dart block and a set of edelbrock heads (so far). With the edelbrock throttle body. The pistons have to be replaced so we will bore it out to about 406ci. Settled on the 12 rib pro charger and a small block set up vs the vortec. I'm getting excited...

The beast is back under the knife

Jenna, You still in va? I'm going to have to get someone to tune this thing when I'm done. I use a local guy, but he can't seem to get the start cycle right and I feel this may be out of his league. Even if he does think he's the best.

    Need help

They don't probe the tail pipes, and they hook up to the computer. In that way it's good, because I can turn off reporting for a lot of things in the computer. But the visual inspection is where the worry is. They have to see the egr.

The beast is back under the knife

The 411 swap was a ls computer with a part number ending in 411. This computer is different because it is faster than the black box and the software is much more tune able than the old black box. What makes this computer great for the gmt400 trucks was that they used this computer with the 5.7...

The beast is back under the knife

The bottom end has maybe 10k on it, but my motor guy is tearing down for inspection. He wants no chance of something going wrong since he gave me a lifetime warranty. Hoping my tranny guy can support that kinda hp without loosing the 4l60e. I do have a 4l80e we can build, but would rather use...

The beast is back under the knife

It's been several years since I did the 383 in my 98. But, after thinking long and hard, doing days and days of research, I've pulled the heart out again. I think our final decision on the ol girl is to keep the bottom end (was making 400 hp at the rear tires at tear down), loose the iron...

    Need help

So I'm thinking that I need to find and modify a manifold and get a larger throttle body, then get one of these. My options are limited. I really want a roots based blower that I can sit on top of the engine, but this is looking like it may be all i can get.

    Need help

But do they have a roots blower for the vortec motors?

    Need help

Okay, my 383 is back out of the truck and at the motor shop. I have some decisions to make and need help. In my state I have to have the inspection done. With that in mind I have to run the obd2 computer. (which has been updated to a ls computer to handle up to 4 bars of pressure) So, I am...

    Headers on my '97 K1500

When I did my 98, there were no long tubes available, I ended up with tri-Y's that I really like, but the headers cross over to the passengers side then run down the length of the truck on that side. I only have to make one change. With the size of the pipes, the rear diff beats the heck out...

Are 350’s still easy to get? If so, how would you build it?

The 350's are still real easy to get. Just not from GM. Dart, edelbrock, world, and a lot of other aftermarket make blocks for them that are stronger and can handle more power than the ol' GM block. But if thats what your after, lots of them in scrap yards for sale and on craigslist. GM...
