    Cargo Security/Safety with Topper

I definitely plan on going used. No way I'm paying the price of a new one. Visibility is important to me so covering the windows permanently is not an option. Trucks already feel different with a topper on, let alone with no visibility back there. Since no one makes a retractable cargo cover...

    Cargo Security/Safety with Topper

Thanks! Yeah, I think that's the route I'll end up going. Side question: It looks like you had side sliding windows. Did you ever open them or find yourself wishing the sides were hatches (like the rear)?

    Cargo Security/Safety with Topper

Not bad, but I'm not looking to buy a brand new topper. It'll definitely be used and I have yet to see one of those. I'm leaning more towards covering the cargo itself. The side windows really make a big difference for depth perception with the light they allow in. Every time I search for...

    Jesus H Christmas! WTF?

Glad we're in agreement on this. Absolutely the ugly child. One can only hope the GMC is more appealing. Moving past the grill...not a fan of the new mirror location, or the giant Chevrolet in the grill or tailgate. The bed steps may help, but they're pretty far off the ground due to making the...

    Cargo Security/Safety with Topper

I'm probably going to be putting a topper on, one with locking handles and such, plus most likely a Pop & Lock tailgate handle lock. Does anyone cover their stuff in their bed even though they have a topper (with windows)? The mentality I've always had is "out of sight, out of mind." I leave...

What Did You Do To Your Truck Today? v2.0

Smelt hot brakes.....left rear on S10 :( Just put new pads & rotors on, along with new parking brake shoes and freed them up last summer (then my park brake pedal broke and won't stay down now). I'm certain the rotor will have blue-ing.... Hoping I can track down where I bought the caliper...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

In the end, the supercharger was painted, along with the fuel rail, thermostat housing, and all the bolt heads being painted a metallic silver (Rustoleum paint). I went with this paint scheme because I thought it would look cool with the contrasting colors. Here's a list of what was done/used...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

Let the assembly begin! Sorry for the lack of pictures, but once you get going and the excitement and nerves kick in, pictures are the last thing on your mind.

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

Let the cleaning of my parts begin!!! Soaked the intake and blower housing in Purple Power to get them cleaned out. Besides that, all I used was a parts cleaning brush. Wrinkle coat time! I used VHT wrinkle coat. I couldn't find Krylon anywhere. Put the parts in the oven for 20min at...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

Intake Gasket Time!!!! This was all done as preventative maintenance (no coolant was in the oil) and because I wanted to. The work setup Before the chaos begins No supercharger No intake or valve covers All covered up and laid to rest Bottom of my supercharger Stock water pump...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

The only part I'm really worried about on the ZR2 is removing the distributor and putting it back right. That could get ugly.... I wire-wheeled/scotchbrite-ed every part of both cradles making sure to remove all scaled rust. After that, they were wiped down with lacquer thinner, then sprayed...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

The S/C is nice to have, especially for passing. :naughty: I'm hoping to keep the MPG's up around 29 or 30 for the all-highway trips. I'm getting 21-23 for my mixed driving now. I really don't have any complaints of my car. For it's size and engine, I think it does pretty well. We'll see how bad...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

Thanks Dave! Now I just hope the paint sticks!!! (that's my biggest fear whenever painting; that and rust coming back through)

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

Thanks. I'd rather put the time and money into it now than even more money into fixing it later. Besides, I take pride in my work and don't want anything to look like it was slapped together in a hurry. I gotta get the car in top shape before winter. Also before winter, the ZR2 needs intake...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

Thanks guys!!! Yeah, some serious $$$, but the car will go another 100k+ now I hope!! I saw that too. Shoulda done it then, but I'll have to do it soon. I'm not sure if it is original or not, but I know the fuel tank was replaced before I bought the car (according to receipts), but I'm not...

Yep, fit it all in the trunk! Before ride height. Old VS New Bent in 2 directions! Just after setting the car down with new stuts (hadn't moved yet). All ready to go back in...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

Finally wrapped up a project that took 5 month/5,000mi. This basically started with the car needing tires when I bought it, it was bouncy in the front, and the P/S rack was leaking from every end. I decided to just do everything at once and be done with it. Front MONROE...

    Painting Interior Plastic

I just happened to log on for the first time in months! No, no updated pics. The parts have been sitting inside since painting. I'm hoping to get back to my truck next year. Taking a step back into a GMT400 I see! What happened to your Dodge?

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

No problem! I know you guys like them just a little. :D Honestly, the work I've done really hasn't been too difficult, but it has been very time consuming. I don't regret anything I've done thus far at all. Now that the interior has been out once, it will be coming out again. I want to put...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

They do, but they only have a 2-pack for $2.49....I need like 10 or more clips and they only had 2 packs in stock. O'Reilly's is supposed to call me today. They can get a 25pk for $11. I'm not in a hurry so I'll wait and it's a way better deal. I suppose I could try some of that. I have do...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

I would try that, but there's no break in the seal (at least that I have found yet) and it's glued down. I'm afraid to pull it up for fear of not sealing again due to no glue. Is there anything I can use to glue it back down?? Well, I started the project and took over my dad's garage (which...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

3/3/13 Interior Back Together While I had the seats out, I cleaned them with Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, then in an attempt to recondition/rehydrate them, I got an ice cream bucket of water and dissolved half a bar of Dove soap in it. My logic was if it's supposed to be good for your skin, it...

3/2/13 Front Driver Side Sunroof Drain Yesterday, I got the driver side drain taken care of. I was able to flop the park brake pedal assembly out of the way without disconnecting anything. I honestly wasn't expecting this side to be disconnected since the carpet wasn't nearly as wet...

    New Ride....and it's not a truck!

2/27/13 Front Passenger Side Sunroof Drain (thread that I referenced) I was able to get my utility knife in (and all the wires/connectors out of the way) and cut a flap for the passenger side. I ended up cutting down to where the wire harness comes through the rubber and up along the...

2/26/13 Seats & Carpet Removed Had extra time after work and it was relatively decent out so I decided to pull out the seats, console, and carpet. Seats were a breeze, especially with another person to remove them. The center console was an entirely different beast.... This is my first time...
