No FI, just a carburetor .. Not computer controlled ...
It's made to look like a magneto ...

My plan is to replace this POS with a HEI ...
Put a new gear on that HEI and I think you will be happy. I switched over an old points distributor to an HEI and was thrilled with the performance.

That's what I was thinking when I asked, HEI. When I pulled the Holley sniper off of my vette, I had to also replace the distribution. I ordered a HEI from Summit. It's been good since then. About 2 years ago. Here's a Pic of what I put. IDK if they still sale that particular one any more, or not , but it's been good so far. It will fit ether small or big block. Its a GM proformer, brand distributor.Screenshot_20251028-125455.png

The call is up to the owner .. He said that his brother might have a dist. I'm hoping it will be a good HEI ...

Did look at what Summit had to offer, Accel HEI would be a good choice ..

We'll see what he comes up with ... I'd like to see new used ..

I have a known good GM HEI that's in the 406" motor, going to use it in the 500 cid BBC that I'm building for the Binder truck ..
Could use it for doing the breakin on the 496" or wait to see what the owner does ?

P.S.
Vette motor is looking mighty fine ... Bet it runs as good as it looks !

Vette runs low to mid 12s in the quarter mile, depending on weather. It loves the cold air, and handles like it's in rails. It's a lot of fun. Yes, Summit has Accel distributors. Here is 1 for example. They also still sale the proforma brand like I used, and a ton of other brands. MSD, there summit brand, ECT. I have used Summit brand parts before with good luck. When I ordered my distributor, I did call in the order. I find that there staff is very helpful in getting you the rite parts. I have done a bunch of business with them, through the years, and I have never had a bad experience.

The

ACCEL Performance Distributor 59130

from Summit is on it's way to me ...

Should have bought it at first off instead of dealing with used shi errrrrrrrrrr stuff ... Would had been money ahead ..

This BBC 496" sure sounds good with what little time I heard it run. I hadn't forgotten the video, just needing to iron out the bugs ..
