    I'm thinking that would explain the neutral light on the steering column, but not the transfer case issue? Do you have a wire diagram by chance?

    have you tried replacing the encoder motor already?

    Any resolution to your problem... My 2002 Yukon XL is doing the same thing... I replaced the neutral safety switch with no help.
