Re a 88 K2500 4x4 auto trans with a 5.7L TBI, I'm looking for a procedure to replace the right front axle shaft seal. Haynes talks about removing the axle tube with all components and taking it to a dealer for seal and/or bearing replacement. Is it possible to undo the drive axle and push it out...
1988 GMC K2500 5.7L There is a pressure switch near the firewall that has a cap with two wires. Once removed it exposes the connector and also a set screw between the connectors. Can anyone help with an adjustment procedure that can be done without a pressure gauge. I'm trying to reduce the time...
The tech at the GMC shop check the fuel pressure. The only change made to date is the fuel filter and that seems to have corrected the original problem. I'm exploring the injector issue as it may imporove the trucks camper hauling ability. I will be pulline out the fuel pum in the next week or...

The truck is used for property maintenance and wood hauling in addition to hauling a camper. Would the increase in performance justify the cost? Your comments?

RE a 1988 GMC K2500 5.7L. I'm trying to diagnose a fuel mixture issue that only occurs after driving for a while - full warm up - and then stopping for some time and partially cooling. Under those conditions it starts great but hesitates on acceleration often setting a lean exhaust code. Once...
Hello all. First post here. Looks like a great forum.
Re: a 1988 GMC K2500 5.7L. Old but only 150,000 Kilometers. A recent stuck EGR valve was corrected by removing the valve and capping the ports. The engine has never run better with a noticeable increase in torque when hauling a camper up a...
