It is nice to see that GM is spending money to have so much fun when they can perform most if not all these tests here in the States. No wonder their vehicles cost so much, we are paying for others vacations worldwide.

They are owned partially by the US Government still, they don't have to worry about funding right now.

Travel is pocket change for big companies.

Travel is pocket change for big companies.

For companies losing market share and seeing their stock price plummet, it might be pocket change but it's bad business.

Travel, vehicle transport, licensing, hotels, food, support crews, photographers, videographers, etc., etc., etc. all adds up to a lot more than doing it in Detroit or California.

They had an operating income of $150 billion with a net profit of $7.5 billion last year, I think they'll manage. Also with the ATS looking like it'll be at or near the top of its class the extra development money was worth it.

You should go work for the government with that mentality.

The ATS is going to be a successful car for Cadillac. I agree 100%. However, I do NOT think it will at the top or near the top its its class. They are going after the luxury German imports and that is going to be a tough sell. The numbers for the ATS look damn good but it will take more than that for MB, BMW, & AUDI buyers to make the move when it comes to writing out a check for $50-60K. That being said, they will probably grow the category by getting customers new to the segment in the ATS. Based on the numerous German boards I'm on, I don't see many people ready to jump ship.

I'm in that category. I may take one out for a test drive but I can't see myself ever seriously considering one. They have a ways to come yet IMO. Depreciation is another big hurdle they have yet to overcome.

I haven't read that article yet. I'll check it out.

It was either Car & Driver or Motor Trend (can't remember which) tested the ATS and their initial review was very very favorable. It sounds like the ATS is on par with the 3 series based on the specs and their initial testing. I can't wait for the inevitable ATS vs 3 series test.

Even so, I can't see the German car crowd making the move to Cadillac. I'm not saying that's right or wrong, I just don't see it happening.
