We have a 1997 camaro that has been in the back yard for about 3 years. The owner before us switched up the cd player and some wires are not hooked up :dunno:and as we were driving it around yesterday the car shut off and will not do anything now. The theft light just keeps blinking. Anyone know what is wrong with it or how I can fix it? :tmc:

The radio wiring has absolutely nothing to do with the Security light flashing. It's just a coincidence that the radio is messed up. Try resetting the security light with the directions in the above link. If it still acts up, you "might" have to replace the ignition switch and key.

Does the ignition key look like this?

You will most likely need to replace the ignition switch. The switch has a sensor in it that reads the resistance in that pellet in the key. That is GM's old anti-theft system called VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft System. Or...you can probably get away with permanently bypassing the VATS if you don't want to fork out the cash for a new VATS ignition switch.
