So what do you guys think about a jetta tdi? I'm going to be moving at the end of the year and need a dd good on gas. Figured I'd let the yota go since it only gets about 18mpg. They seem to be a sound car, and great mpg. Or possibly a Mazda since they have a rotary motor seems to be a good car as well.

I hate diesels and I will tell you that the TDI is a fantastic car. With a manual transmission they tend to run forever. I see them with over 250K on them often.

You DO NOT want a rotary. They get horrible fuel economy. Mazda doesn't sell a rotary here anymore. The only recently produced Mazda with a rotary was the RX8 but it's no more.

$9 grand will buy a lot of gas for the truck, not counting the extra insurance and maintenance.
