as some of You know I blew the 5.3 and bought an LY6 6.0, well, today as I was cleaning the engine and checking the block/ rotating , I found that the pistons have some very low but noticable play when you push them from front to back,
also the rod bearings look like they have a little ware , should i change that too?
the last thing is that the first cam bearing have copper colored spots, change or leave?

here are the pics:

Re: some notes from a biggenr, change rings or change pistons?

If it was mine... since you already have it tore down...
I would put new rings, inserts, mains and new cam bearings in it and maybe a high performance oil pump.

That front cam bearing doesn't look good at all... :ohnoes:

Well you've got it apart. I'd break out the micrometers and the plasti-gauge. Check everything. New bearings would be a smart thing to do. Rings and oil pump too

All bearings need to be changed. They are cheap and you have it apart.

Have the journals of your crankshaft polished by a machine shop and check the clearances before buying new main- rod bearings. In case the crank needs machining, which is doubtful but possible..

Hone the cylinders and take measurements, honing is probably the only thing needed from the looks of the pics.

If you end up having to bore the cylinders then obviously you'll need new pistons, otherwise, re-use the pistons and get new rings.

Upgrade rod and main bolts to ARP fasteners while you have it apart. Head studs would also nice to upgrade at this time.
