Dug around for a replacement power steering pump (locally and online). All the available ones are for 4WD 1500 with Torsion bars.

Is there a version available for a 06 Silverado 2WD 1500 Crew Cab? Thanks.

I can take pics of my 06 4wd pump for comparison. It'll be an hour or so, we are heading out the door to eat breakfast.

Rockauto.com lists an AC Delco for RWD Crew Cab. It's somewhat bizarre how they list those pumps. 4WD and 2WD are the same pump on half ton trucks, but there are other factors.

Question:
Why are there different pumps for 2wd and 4wd?

I'm sure that 4wd is harder to move because of the added resistance of the 4wd components.

Yeah, it's odd. I wanted to post the part number but without all of the little details, I had no way of knowing. Why can't there just be one design that's adequate for all 1500's? Seems like it'd be cheaper to have one design than 18.
