Is my rear defroster fWONked?

I noticed yesterday that one of the coiled wires on my rear window was hanging down. This was after my wife borrowed it to go shopping her friend and all our kids and hers. She wanted the Burb so they could ride with all 5 kids. So anyways, I asked my wife WTF happened and she swears that nothing snagged on it and ripped it off (as far as she knows) and nobody but her opened the rear hatch.
So here's the problem. The wire didn't come unplugged from the defroster, it ripped the metal tab off the window. I am wondering if it can be soldered back on or something. Or will I need a new rear glass?

Agreed. Someone does offer a repair kit for that.

Safelite will fix it pretty cheaply too.

Thanks Jim. :thumbs: I just read the info on that kit and it said soldering can damage the defroster grid. Glad I asked on here first before I soldered it. Because that's what I was gonna try doing to fix it. Looks like I will be ordering that Permatex kit.
