Well after talking to the guy about the Duramax he came to a point where he was not willing to sell.. So it wasn't the right truck to fulfill my needs.

After much talk with my brother(co-owner) and considering the jobs that we have sold so far this year that will start (Weather permitting) our needs swayed.

We thought about a Dually that might be able to pull a little more than what our trucks are capable for. With all the mulch jobs that we have coming up we would also have to buy a dump trailer to be able to move the mulch to the jobs.

So the 2 biggest things that we needed was to be able to move more pallets of sod and move a larger quantity of mulch...

We agreed and made an offer on a:

1998 GMC C6500 Dump Truck.

Its has a gas 6.0 and a 5 speed manual transmission with 2 speed rear end. It has right at 201k miles but runs and drives strong. Is capable of more than it's weight limitations. It is really slow!

Tires are new and I have all the service records in hand from 1999...

Clutch has 40k miles on it

The dump bed is 16X5X8 and if I did my math right is should hold between 21.33-23.7 yards of mulch. We can only move about 10 yards max right now.

This truck does not leak a drop of any fluid at the moment. :D

He was asking $7500

Negotiated $6400 and its a done deal...

I gave him $3200 today and the rest hopefully before the end of the week.

I am stoked.

Thinking about replacing the steering components because there is a lot of play in that steering wheel. This may or may not be fixable. Good thing I don't text and drive.

FINALLY! A REAL truck on this site! :jester:

Congrats, Brian! That's a heck of a deal on a truck that you should be able to get a lot of use out of!

This was the best generation of the Kodiak. I remember when it was assemblied in Brazil from CKD kits made in Mexico, but there was no gasoline-powered version back here...
