Dammit,Dammit,Dammit!!! Wrong size gears :fume: Friggin jerks tried to sell me one with the 9.75'' ring gear :fume: ''But it will work'' he said :fume: Damn I hate people like that, maybe someone else would've bought it...not me.I want an exact match.

Yeah... until the transfer case looks like that exploded diff due to the different gear ratio.

The size of the ring gear doesn't determine the gear ratio, the number of teeth do. You can have a 9.75 with a 3.55 (or whatever the Expy has) ratio just as easy as you can have an 8.8 with a 3.55 ratio.

That happened to me in a jacked up blazer a long time ago.
I was cruzin along at about 55mph and the pin came out.
Mine hit right in the webbing of the housing and locked both back tires up.
It stayed on all 4's, but the sudden surprise sucked!

Happened to me a long time ago too, same thing...I was on a freeway when the rearend locked up on my '66 Skylark GS.Talk about the ass-end jumping around

True, but,I want to keep it the same as much as possible.Plus, the calipers & rotors are prolly bigger on the 9.75......

But guess what? GOT WHAT I WANTED!! I now have in my possession a 3:55,8.8 axle WooHoo!!!! there is no ''L'' in there(as in 3L55) but at this point I don't care.Funny thing,it came out of a '99 Expedition XLT 4X4.Shouldn't it have an LS diff?Who cares, not me.So now it's in my trailer with all the tools I can think of that I might need where the Expi's parked(same place as my RV).So...depending on the weather I might get this done tomorrow. If the bad rain hits as the weathermen say this might have to wait until the end of next week.....shit :fume:

p.s. since the Expi is spittin' distance from my RV I can use the generator to power my compressor so I can use my air tools

True enough, if the 9.75 has the same ratio.
