I know they cater mostly to businesses but has anyone ordered from MSC for personal orders? I have used Grainger in the past because we have a local distributor that has pretty much everything in stock so it saves a bunch of searching but they don't do you any favors on pricing. MSC isn't much better but a couple bucks cheaper on items I need. Sometimes the convenience of being able to get everything from 1 place supersedes saving a buck here or there. Also has anyone tried McMaster? I would love to get my hands on one of those yellow bibles but from what I hear you need to order thousands of dollars of stuff from them before they'll think about it.

I may have a copy of McMaster Carr's catalog on cd. I'll try to remember this week to look around, I know I have a copy on my computer which crapped out. Hopefully it can be fixed and I can restore from a backup. Anyway, McMaster has everything you want I have ordered a lot from them. MSC, I have only used them for the ships but they seemed about equal to Grainger IMO.

MSC is about like Grainger, and we do some with them. Grainger has a local store so we use them mostly.

Does McMaster sell to individuals or only businesses? I can order things through work (we even have one of the infamous yellow bibles there) but I'd prefer to not have the hassle of dealing through dad. My main use for Grainger has been replacing all of the cheap tools I've acquired with higher quality (aiming to have everything Proto eventually). I would like to get a catalog for Mcmaster just for those random things that you need but can't find anywhere.

They may require you to set up an account much like Grainger does, but it should be pretty easy to order from them.

Sounds good, I will look into them a little more. That place is like the Walmart of industrial supplies.

I'll look for the catalog on cd and burn you a copy of it. I know we have a few kicking around here.
