Tahoe console swap

Anybody know if a console from a 2003+ can be swapped into a 2001? The dash and everything appear to be the same but the consoles are different and I'm wondering if they can be swapped? Anyone have any experience here???

Unless there's a 12v outlet in the '03+ console that I'm not seeing, the earlier model one has 3 12v outlets, and the '03+ console has 2. That might not be a problem itself (just stuff the extra wiring away somewhere), but could be indicative of other differences?

I really have no idea, but that, and the lack of the ash tray on the '03+ console are the only differences I see.

I'm not a dirty smoker anyway so I'm good with losing the ash tray.

It looks like it should work just fine but I haven't been able to find anything on the net that says "Yes, yes you can swap them and here's an example."


In the interest of full disclosure, I used to smoke.

I keep coins in mine.

They rattle like hell though, I've thought of lining the inside with something soft. But then I'd hear all of the other rattles...

Meh, I'll just deal with the coins.

I'd say yes. You'd need to do a little bracket surgery but I know that doesn't scare you. It does look a LOT nicer.

Could be, just curious. I have never seen that.

I've seen some really good seat kits. Katskins are pretty nice. Maybe somebody didn't cover the armrests?

Probably right. I thought all the LTs in that era had leather ? and the LS had cloth.

I know in '03 you could get either cloth or leather in an LT
