My trusty 2000 Ford Explorer work sled rolled 200,000 miles today. All I've done other than maintenance is a transmission at 145K because the old one started leaking fluid. Original alternator, water pump, starter, engine, radiator, etc. I still get 20.5 mpg per tank and the darn thing is still running strong and doesn't burn oil between changes or leave drips on my driveway (I'd hate that). Everything but the infernal rear gate wiper still works like new.

Not too bad for an American made vehicle huh?

I took a few pics where it happened. About 2 miles North of New Braunfels Texas on IH35. The pics are on the feeder road. I thought the old beast deserved a few pics!

Well will you look at that, a non digital odometer. Hard to mess with those like you can the LED ones.

Good job and with the original water pump. That is amazing in itself.

It still has the original hoses. Belt has been replaced at least once. Fluids have all been flushed / changed a time or two. Oil and filter every 5-6000 miles.

It's amazing what happens when someone takes care of a vehicle.

Half of the bad wrap most cars get are probably directly attributable to the lack of care the owners take of them.

Now, that said, you've proved your point. What are you going to get now to replace it? :D

It has become a quest to see how long it will live now. :naughty: That and it's such an anonymous vehicle. Cops don't even look at it when I zoom by. It's still pretty presentable for a 200,000 mile 2000 model!
