Took the Miata to Fairfield County SCC to run my first autocross- pretty challenging course. Five runs, three clean and two with a cone each, and the fastest course time of the first timers, placed second in FT division. Fastest time was 60.7, an improvement of 7 seconds from the start of the day.

out of an 85-driver field, probably a good third were driving Miatas or RX-8s.

no, just helmet. had to empty everything out of the car- tire, jack, cigarette lighter, floormats, anything loose. it lost me 30-something pounds total

Looks like you did very well.

Autocrossing is a blast. I've done it a bunch of times here.

Why all of the blue tape on the front bumper?

Why all of the blue tape on the front bumper?

the tape in the center was to keep the license plate bracket from scraping the bumper if i hit a cone, and the war paint on the sides was to keep cone rash off it. I ended up not hitting cones with the bumper (tires instead) but the war paint gives you something to do to kill time and nerves before you run.

Those are some nice shots of that truck autocrossing btw
