Engine trouble AGAIN!!

so when i was coming home from work today i got a CEL:

catalyst bank in no. 1 cylinder

ok look into it more when i get home.

about 10 miles from my house and my engine temp skyrockets.

pull over a the next gas station wait a little bit put some antifreeze in it and started home again.

was all fine and dandy untill i can almost see my house and my temp is varying with my rpms.

a new truck is sounding really nice right now

any thoughts??

Could your catalytic converter be plugged up causing the high temps?

thats what the lady said at advance it might be. not news i want to hear considering those arent cheap.

mabye i can get an aftermarket one to make my exaust a tad louder

Well if you can't afford a new one now you might just take it out so you don't melt down your engine in the mean time.

and put what in its place, ill just drive the honda to work tomorrow, it is very nice to have an extra car

Quick way to check, put your hand over the exhaust and have someone rev the engine up. If little comes out, cat is clogged. If it flows freely, probably not the cat. Aftermarket cats are around $50 plus install.

yah i drive 60+ miles a day. 10mpgs doesnt sound that great. plus those things are too dam monsterous for me
