I love my Task Force air compressor from Lowes, but it says that you should drain the air out of it after each use. The tank is huge and takes forever for the air to release. My Dad never drained his.

Are you really suppose to do this after each use?

I don't know if you are supposed to, but I don't, ever, unless I am moving it. (moving it long distances, not around the garage.)

NO!

All you need to do is drain a small amount of air to rid the bottom of the tank of condensed water. It keeps it from rusting the tank.

I do mine about once a month at most.

I don't remember the last time I drained my compressor. I really should.

I have just added another thing to my to do list.

Well technically yes, does anyone in the real world, not necessarily. Kinda depends on how much we use it. The one at work builds up moisture like none other so we drain it nightly. the one at home, Well I dunno a year or two ago?

My parents never gets emptied. Every now and then (every year or so) the bottom drain gets pulled for a bit to release moisture. Very dry climate so not much moisture anyways.

It all depends on how humid it is in your area. Here, they build up a lot of water with each use... so I drain mine at least once a month (if it has been in use anyway). I get about a cup of water each time.

Is it okay to use the pull-off-valve near the top of the tank or do you have to unscrew the one from the bottom of the tank?

When I had my shop and a large compressor I would drain the moisture off daily, but I never intentionally drained all the air out of one.

Bottom.

Any water in the system will settle to the bottom. Letting air out anywhere else doesn't let it escape.
