AFM (Another f***ing Mistake) is one of the big reasons my next truck will not be a GM.

MIne has been turned off for years, it made ZERO difference in overall MPG, but it made a HUGE difference in QPM (quarts per mile)...with it on, it ate 1 qt/1000 miles. :frustration:

On mine, it was really never that noticeable... Until I put aftermarket exhaust, lol. With the right exhaust it sounds like a really big Subaru, lol.

The main reason I turned mine off was because it was made before they fixed the oil consumption issue... I think they fixed that by the end of 2008.

There wasn't much difference in fuel mileage on my truck, between having it enabled or not... But that's area dependant.

Yeah, my exhaust made mine noticeable, too.
I had the update done in 2009 when it used its first 1/2 quart of oil. Never any problems, really, but the dealer was cool.

10 years has passed since its inception, and I don't hear too much about it, anymore. Granted, I have been back in 3/4 tons since late 09 when I traded off my 07

So is there an easy way I can turn it off without going to the dealership to get them to turn it off?

I think they even fixed the lifter issue, but I'm not sure.

Get Blackbear to tune it... Dealership likely won't turn it off.

Ugh I don't have the money to spend on someone else to tune it. :(

Don’t even sweat it. It was an 07-08 issue on some vehicles. You are just fine
