regarding a delete...I hope this (from the NH inspection laws) is accurate:

Diesel Vehicles:
Model year 1997 and newer diesel vehicles with a GVWR of 8,500 lbs or less must undergo emissions testing.

my truck's GVWR is 10K, so i should be exempt. That just seems weird to me though...how many diesel 3/4 tons have a GVWR less than 8500? I admit, I haven't paid any attention to gvwr on diesel trucks until 6 months ago...
That might be commercially registered for that to apply... Look into it, lol.

Very few. 8600 was the standard GVWR for 3/4 tons before GM and the others started going crazy.

The way I read this, you are correct, half tons and cars need emissions testing. They will only test for NoX, the expense of a 5 gas analyzer for particulate matter would be prohibitive for them. Proactively, I would like to convert to just a DOC, and tune for that, and NoX would be reduced by 95%. I have sold nearly a hundred DOCs for stationary generators, and have had reductions of up to 98%. This would pass a sniff test, if they are not checking for particulate matter

ETA: It is likely just a matter of time before the larger metropolitan areas require testing for diesel pick ups. Frankly, when we had emissions testing in Anchorage, I loved it. No stinky, smokey shitboxes to breath in at the stop lights in town. There are so many of them now, that it makes me ill

Oh...to be clear, in NH even non-exempt vehicles (gas or diesel) "emissions testing" is purely visual/OBD plug-in to check for codes. No sniffers at all...

Oh, right on. In Anchorage, it was the full deal sniff test, and ECM monitor on gas powered, and diesels were exempt. When I had my Blackbear tune, I "failed".

I do want to do it, just not until the warranty expires. The cost of a variable geometry turbo is just too much to inhale.

I want to get the cleanest complete kit I can find. One that I can hopefully reinstall everything back to stock, should I choose to sell the truck. Nobody wants a truck that has been tuned, or deleted. It kills the value of the vehicle. One of my customers did a complete kit on an F350, and they took it to a dealer to trade it in (company work truck) and they actually deemed the truck as "totaled", and offered them half of current used value.

I just want a reliable tow vehicle to keep forever. When she is paid off in a couple years, I will park it. I am getting a car next time. The SS is tits, and needs some big bad illegal mods

It's a little more expensive, by my AFE exhaust has fantastic fit and finish... The 4" is probably a little easier to wrangle over the axle, mind you, lol.

You and I are of the same mind. I honestly didn't think I'd ever bother with a delete...but then I also didn't think i'd have DEF system problems 4 months in. Even if this shit does annoy me to the point of deleting, it won't be until after the warranty is up. They can pay to fix until then...and if this is a one off and i don't end up having any more issues...who knows.

If you're planning on keeping it, reliability wise, deleting is good... All the soot that doesn't go into your DPF is blasted back into your engine with the EGR ;)

If you're planning on trading it in a few years, keep it stock
