I'm too COOL (lazy) to Choose a Custom Title!!!
I wrote this up for another forum but thought I'd post it here also:
By request, here's all the stuff I have tucked away in the nooks and crannies of my Patriot. This is standard equipment on-board 100% of the time...and probably why 24 mpg is a bit rare. Yes, I'm over geared compared to other people but I've got the kind of luck where if something can go wrong, it generally will. Everything on my list has been used at least once as "the one tool to save the day".
Lift up the spare tire cover and this is the mess you see.
Going clockwise then center....
-Regular hammer
-2”x50’ Recovery strap (NOT tow strap)
-Rubber mallet
-Monster screwdriver
-Paper towels

-Fine grit sand paper
-Camp shovel
-8,000 pound hand winch
-12V air compressor
-Multi-function chop saw
-F250 scissor jack
-Spare hitch pin
-Jumper cables
-Penetrating spray lubricant (like WD-40 or PB Blaster)
-Spare mountain bike tube
-Duct tape
-Electrical tape
-2 cans of Vienna sausages and one can of peaches in heavy syrup (replaced quarterly)

-Quart of motor oil
-Quart of transmission fluid
-Full sized spare
-Red fanny pack: socket set w/ more than one ratchet handle, wrench set and zip ties

-White (grimy) bag: Ratchet straps and rope
-POS Jeep scissor jack...I do like the lug wrench though.
-Axle strap with shackle
-Small, medium and large crescent wrenches

In front of my back seat you'll find a 48" farm jack. I've seen the debates about this on many forums and I don't care to hear it again. I'll state that it is a very useful piece of equipment if you MAINTAIN and RESPECT it. I've never seen someone get hurt that didn't violate one or both of the primary rules.
You'll also find a weekend bag with a nice change of clothes, junk clothes, orange/reflective vest, deodorant, tooth paste/brush, etc and a few bottles of water (replaced quarterly) in a small cooler bag.
Under the driver's seat I've got a floating LED flashlight with 100+ hr run time (6V battery with LED bulb swap) and some light weight running shoes.
Under the passenger's seat I've got a rain suit and minor first aid kit in a waterproof container.
I've also got two beach towels, a saddle blanket and a moving blanket strategically located throughout the vehicle.
There's all kinds of other little things in the other bins but that highlights the important stuff.
