Personally, I don't like them. The stiffer sidewall makes for a less forgiving ride, more road noise and they don't wear as well either (at least the tires BMW uses). I typically try to swap them out to regular tires the first chance I get.

CAFE and cost savings combined. They can save a few bucks, still raise the overall price, then blame it on CAFE, which isn't even false. Win/Win for the manufacturers. LOSS, as always, and at a higher price, for the consumer.
Ford MPGs are equivalent and that's with a spare tire.

Okay, so Ford is better at eking out MPG's. That doesn't change what I said, I don't think.

Interesting. I've never had them, so I have no experience with them.

I will not own a car without a spare and think its dumb for manufacturers to make a pump and fix a flat standard. What if you have a blow out in the middle of BFE where there isn't any phone service?
