Never Ending Project - 1997 GMC Sierra
I am ALWAYS adding stuff to my truck, so i will just post all of my updates here,
recently at a junkyard i scored a stock radio/cd player combo out of a 95 Silverado, since my truck did not come with a factory CD player i put that in. Much better lol. i also got a Reel Light, Cluster, Skid Plates. I am going to pull the front and rear diffs out on Monday, the wrecked truck has 3.73 Gears GT4, and my truck only has 3.42's.. anyways here is a pic of the CD player, very exciting i know lol.. ![]() i moved my rocker switches on the dash bezel, i have a spare too so when i wanna sell the truck it will be stock, 1 is for the kc's, 1 is for radar detector, and 1 controls a 1 into 2 12volt plugs tucked under the dash to charge Ipod and GPS![]() and i also ran wires under my carpet and into my console for my ipod, which is way better than before ![]() ![]() i am also collecting parts, i think i could make $100-200 bucks on ebay for this stuff idk if i want to sell it though. ![]()

The differentials are going to be sandblasted and painted "Dark Red"
they will probably be installed next weekend, or at least one of them will probably the front one, since that is the hardest one i think, actually both are pretty easy i could swap both out in about 2 hours, the front one was just out in march and anti-sieze was used on all the threads and the rear one was "off" in feb when i added the add-a-leaf and anti-seize is on all of the those threads too. i always wanted 3.73's i will be buying 305/70/16's this fall and they new gear ratio will help quite a bit. and i have to check but if the rear has a locker it will be a added bonus since in winter it would be nice to have both rear wheels turning instead of just 1, plus it will be fun to screw around with, its pretty hard to do a cheerio with only 1 wheel spining lol Last edited by Riggs; 08-23-2009 at 05:02 PM. |

i pulled the Rear Differential from the truck today, and i pretty much pulled the front too i have all the bolts out, and for some reason it doesn't want to fall down... i am taking one of my dad's wreckers to work tomorrow to pick them up. ( i have a part time job at a junkyard
)oh and it DOES have a locker i cant wait to put it in and wait for winter to come.GT4 - G80 in the glove box |

Well i brought home the rear differential today... the guy loading it set it down on the shock mount so i have to unbend that and make sure the welds are still alright or i am going to have to strengthen it up, its pretty rusty and crappy looking but it is going to be cleaned, and i have one of the wire wheels for a cordless drill, and then i am going to paint it dark red like my interior.
the differential cover is going to be sandblasted and painted gloss black and im going to use polished stainless bolts ![]()

Tomorrow i am going to get the front differential, it started pouring out so i didn't fell like getting soaked.. but i torched off the pitman arm and the idler arm and its ready to fall out.
the truck ran into a tree and im guessing thats why it didn't just fall out when i took all the bolts out so i got out the torch. |
