Question 1995 4L60E transmission.

Say guys I bought a 1995 Trans for my 93 truck but 95 will only fit 95 trucks I found out so I listed it on craigslist and some guy called me today and wants to trade a 94 Trans for my 95 since his truck is a 95 but im thinking I don't know if he's just trying to get a good Trans and give me trash.

What would you guys do? Now my Trans is slipping when putting it in reverse but it's been like that for years I should try a bottle of Lucas. Do you guys know of a better additive?
Thanks! Roland

Lucas only prolongs the inevitable for a while. I limped a 700r4 along for a month on it. You should just have yours rebuilt. You never know what he is trading you but what good is the 95 doing you? At least you can have the one he trades you gone through and then just install it on place of yours.

I dont undestand what your saying about the 95 only fitting the 95.
In 95 the 700R4 did not have an electronic valve body.
What is it that you dont think will fit?

I'm also confused, since the transmission bolt pattern didn't change...

What part of it doesn't work?

In 1993 the 4L60e trans came out in trucks but in 95 the harness is different and some other stuff anyways it won't fit just on 1995 trucks. I don't why GM did that but they did and any Trans shop can tell you the same thing. Im just going to leave it on CL and see if it sells and for my Trans it has been doing what it does for at least 7 years.

I do one day need to rebuild mine but im first going to try Lucas not unless somebody knows of a better additive.

I thought the 4L60e was a relatively new transmission in 99. The 700R4 was the transmission of choice until then... I could be wrong though The 93 trucks did have a different computer than the 95 trucks. My tahoe was a 96 it was the first year of that update to the 400's and the trucks updated in 95.

I would suggest you get under yor truck and look.
If its a 93 it aint no 4l60E. The 4L60E has a electronic valvebody in it.
The 95 model does not have an electronic valvebody either.

The '93 may be a 4L60 instead of a 700R4... Yes, I know, same thing, but different stamp

Wiki says 93-95 were electronic, and similar "1993-95 production 4L60-Es look similar to non-electronic 4L60s (including the 700R4) with the absence of a governor and throttle valve cable; an electronic plug was positioned where the TV cable once stood"

See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_4L60-E_transmission

Both of my '93s certainly were. Look real similar to a non-electronic 700, but they are.

I do know that I have heard that 1995 was a stand alone year for that trans, as far as elctronics and harnesses. Not sure on the specifics, exactly.
