How do I repair a battery maintainer?

I think I may have hooked the positive and negative leads on the wrong posts. So, I am guessing I blew something inside. It happens to all of us at some point. Anyhoo, I would rather repair than replace. Any idea what I should check first? How do I check it? I figured this would be a good chance to try out my new multimeter. It would be a good learning experience.

Well there is some troubleshooting in the factory owners manual at the Schumacher site, which I found with a single Google... But I know you have already taken those steps

Look for anything burnt or for blown fuses.

If you don't see anything, take Andrew Jackson down to the store and buy a new one.

If you had difficulty with the positive and negative terminals on a battery, repairing the tender will probably not be a successful venture.

How much is a new one? If less than $50 I'd go that route. Sorry I can't be more help.

Yeah, I have a problem with which wire goes where. I do it all the time. As a matter of fact, I had to re-wire my entire truck just so I can place the leads on the wrong terminals. That was easier for me than just remembering which one is which. Seriously, you have never had an oops moment? I am not even sure if that is what I did. I am just assuming. I cannot see any other reason it would just stop working. I am staring to wonder if this site is for getting help with our trucks and related items or just for posting pictures of women and stupid shit.

Reversing polarity probably didn't hurt the charging circuit, but it might have fried a couple of components on the board (if that's what caused it that is). Unfortunately I'm not well versed in how they are built.

Whoa. Easy, big fella!

Reread my post, recall your difficulties with the multimeter the other day, now the battery polarity and then try and understand why I could think spending $20 for a new one would be a better option.

We're here for advice but that advice is never guaranteed to be exactly what you want to hear.

My advice was, and still is, buy a new one for $20 rather than wasting your time on what will likely be an unsuccessful effort given what seemed to be your particular skill set.

There was no disrespect meant, I was just being entirely honest.
