Thumbs up Bought some binoculars!

Well went to the store to give every binoc on the shelves a look through. (except for the swaroski`s, too much $$$$ ) tried out numerous leupolds, bushnells, nikons, pentax, probly a little over a dozen units. The first one the guy showed me were some Vortex Vipers in 8x42. After looking through all the other comparable units there was no question the clarity was unmatched to these binoc`s. I tried them out in 10x42, was comparing back and forth to some leupold acadias and the bushnell legend HD`s. the Vortex were similar in weight, but fully ruberized and had some nicer attachment features. i noticed making eye and focus adjustments were very easy, and it required very little adjustment to view clearly (they have a high eye releif rating). I was sold. I walked into the store not even knowing anything about the brand, but have learned quickly that they are a very good optic. I am extremly happy with these binoc`s. They carry a VIP warranty, which essentially is an Unlimited lifetime any problem or failure is repaired.

Clancy,

Just went and read a bunch of reviews on the Viper...
Looks like you got some really nice ones there.
If I ever break my Ziess 8x50 or my Canon 8x50...I will look at some of those.

Re: Bought some binoculars!

Clancy, I nearly bought the ones you did, yesterday. I spent waayyyyy too much $$ in Sportsman's Warehouse

The Vortex is line is friggin' sweet, and the warranty is great!

They had a pair of Nikons on sale that I could not pass up.

Good choice. Looking through the large end makes it easier to do with old age.

I damn near walked out with them in a 10x42, and the guy came to the counter and said "Hey, how about some Nikons in a 12x42 for the same price?"

I snagged the last pair
