My new project

1957 Buick Special

So the wife thinks its a POS and is likely to fall apart if you touch it wrong....

I think it has potential and is a great alternative to all the chevy and ford cars from this time you see around. I went to a local meet to check things out and there wasnt a single buick in the parking lot. At least she will be unique

Right now she is stripped down to repair rust in the floor boards and trunk pan. Otherwise the body is pretty straight. This is going to take a while to get going.

For now I will keep the factory 364 Nailhead and dynaslow trans. But eventually I want to put that 425 wildcat nailhead in it.

This will be a reto-rod. Disc brakes are planned and I would love to swap the rear for a ford 9" with a 4 link.

Nice!

I like the resto-mod idea. No reason to go the numbers matching route, unless you're looking for an investment.

Very nice, I'd be interested in some progress pics along the way if you'd be willing to share.

LOL I am definitely not going for an investment. If anything this will be a bottomless pit for my money to go into

Im looking at about 500 just in pans for the floors.... And thats with Munkey's father in law doing all the work including making a new trunk pan since we cannot find a replacement.

Also I looked and there really is no way to tell if the motor was the same as the original. There are not matching numbers to be found on the motor. All the motors apparently used the same casting numbers.

I will definitely keep some pics up to date but it will be a long slow process. Im saving for the pans now and then my buddys dad will pick it up. It will honestly be there a few months...

On the plus side, the 364 in it was blown and my buddys dad just so happens to have a 364 in running condition at his house...

Looks like a super project car! In the pics, it appears pretty darn straight... and two doors are pretty hard to find. Keep us posted!
