View Full Version : Are You Changing Your Filters?

I just thought I'd throw this out there. Are all of you keeping your furnace filters changed? It's easy to forget. Another thing to remember to do is, drain a bucket of water out of the hot water heater every other month. A bunch of shit sits at the bottom of the tank, and it won't heat the water very efficient. Not only that, it will shorten the life span of the water heater. :D

Once a month for me.
As far as the water heaters, also check the anodizing rod in there. Once that gets eaten away, there is no protection from it starting to eat away at the inside of the tank.

Hot water needs heating? :rollin:
Our water heater is the instant on tankless gas model so no worries with a tank for us!

Our heater has only been on twice this year. It's easy on filters!

I change mine once a month.. Don't buy the 3 month filters.. They still need changed after a months time...
I have never emptied my hot water heater... I think that I can attach a hose to it and drain it out that way. I don't think that we have ever run out of hot water and thats with the family in town.

I agree, but I still use the three month filters. Kind of like using synthetic oil, and changing it every 3K. :dunno:

That's just so easy to forget to do. I sometimes forget to change ours. I have to remind my daughter to change hers, well actually, I do it for her. My granddaughter has asthma really bad, and a dirty filter is not good. :dunno:

Don't change filters too regularly, maybe once or twice a year. Don't think about it and they're a PITA to get to. Downstairs unit is under the house and to get to the filter you have to crawl through the closet under the stairs moving shit out of your way then there's a little door that's held on by two clips that you have to remove and slide it out of your way and then you can reach in and change the filter. The unit up stairs is in the attic and the return vent for it is in the back, far corner of the attic. Water heater...never drained it, just don't think about it but it is easy to get to in the garage.
