View Full Version : Took the dogs out for a day (LOTS of pics) (and LOTS of pics)

We've recently found a new dog park in the area but it was flooded after some heavy rain. Instead we took them over to one of the numerous baseball fields right in the same recreation park. It too was wet, but only in certain places. Of course our dogs loved it.

The Husky mix is mine (Tia) and the smaller one is my roommate's dog (Misty). They had a blast and got out a lot of energy at the same time. Took a ton of shots (that continuous shooting mode is insane ) and picked out some of my favorites. It was hard to get the settings right but I stayed with a fast shutter speed since I was taking a lot of action shots. Starting to get the hang of this beast of a camera.

Sorry but Photobucket decreased the quality (as usual). Edit-Decreased it quite a bit (see Post 19). Rage on Photodumpit. For the most part these turned out pretty sharp. Took a few with each lens (D90 kit 18-105mm, 70-300mm, and 50mm)

Misty's face on these first few is priceless

Tia loves running right at me as I'm shooting. Makes it easier to get some good pictures of her. She'll run straight at me and at the last second she will blast off to the side and miss me. Love this crazy dog.

She wanted to show me how pretty she was after playing in the water....

And who knows why, but Tia would dunk her head in the water, literally chomp a mouthful, and toss it around. Such a goofball.

Now for Misty the stalker. Notice her pursuing in the background. Tia's just whoring herself out for the camera.

Sorry for posting so many--like I said I took a lot more. I just thought these turned out pretty good straight off the camera. Haven't had time for post-processing and I probably won't bother. Hope you guys enjoyed my picture whoring.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Something I've been working on with most shots is leading the subject (giving more space in the direction they are facing). It gives a better sense of direction. Hard to do with those two boogers, though.

Good observation. It was payback time for Tia. When they play in the apartment Misty just goes on and on at Tia (nipping at her neck). Tia always gets fed up with it but doesn't have the room to move around in the apartment. She loves the space and is about twice as fast as Misty. Payback's a bitch (literally).

Thanks! No I have an appointment scheduled for early January so I will just get it done then. I did get it in the mail yesterday, though. Thanks for your help with that--I'll update everyone when the results come back.

Saw your Husky mix in another thread. She's a beauty. Nice looking family, too.

Don't fret I just revived the Bokeh thread.

I didn't realize how much Photobucket craps on the resolution of these. :lame: That alone makes me want to pay for the premium Flickr account so I can have unlimited uploads.

Thanks! Surprisingly, not really. School and work keep me busy enough. I happened to have a few days this past week where classes were cancelled (finals next week :() so I spent some time just relaxing. Good day to grab the camera. :D

Glad to hear it. I'm strongly considering it so I have somewhere to store my pictures as a backup.

Nice Matt! Looks like a pair of happy dogs!

I finally got around to uploading some of Willow playing with my wife's Mother's pug, Niki.

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w187/sreuschle/Willow%20Puppy/WrestlinCrop.jpg

Willow lets the little one "win" sometimes...

I'm thinking once the truck is paid off, I might have to dive into this whole DSLR thing.

 Love the face of the pug. Tia does the same thing for the little one here---just rolls over sometimes to give her a slight upper hand.

DSLRs are amazing. Once you use one and get used to taking quality pictures you won't want to go back to a P&S unless it's for convenience (throw it in your pocket to carry around). The only downside is having to change lenses, but a lot of people get something like an 18-200mm for a daily walk around lens. While the quality is less than other lenses, it's still far better quality than P&S.

You would love it.

That is not a good problem to have, Clancy....
when I was growing up on the farm, we had dogs also chase cars/trucks... and sometimes they bought the farm when doing so... :(
