I highly recommend viewing the powertrain videos *link above*. the powerstoke video at 2:50 is cool! The videos are unbeleivable quality!

All NEW! 6.2L V8 Gasoline engine and 6.7L all new diesel with a cool new turbo design. And an all New 6-speed automatic.

Looks like they`ve done a ton of homework!

very nice truck! Im glad to see Ford stepping up their game with the new diesel and gas engines. But that grille..... :puke:

I wish my truck could go through a puddle.

-------------------------------------

But that grille..... :puke:

I saw a pic where the stupid little chrome bars that look like these [ ], were removed....looked much better. Actually...it looked a lot like this:

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f141/P71_CrownVic/fsd11_pg_015_ext_full.jpg

Still not good...but certainly better.

I can invision a big billet grille looking good too.

cant wait to see how hard this engine fails. just joking .. we'll see if bringing the diesel in house will change things.. the 6.0 was pitiful.. and i never owned one.. that statement is coming from FORD guys. Went through turbos and head gaskets like they were goin outta style. and the last.. the 6.4... not that impressive either. im wishing ford luck on this one.

One of our utility trucks (2004 Super Duty, long box, ext. cab) needed a new 6.0 PSD at 11K miles.

Our newest ambulance needed a new 6.0 PSD at 50K miles.

I have read many articles that Navistar did not have near the problems with the VT365 (Navistar's name for the 6.0 PSD) that Ford did in their applications. It also put out much less power. They speculate that, despite Navistar's recommendation, Ford insisted on increasing the power numbers to "win" on paper comparisons.

Some of the power figures I have seen for the Navistar version was 230HP and 620TQ...while in the Super Duty, it's output was around 325HP and 565TQ. The engine's electronics are different as well. Some even say that the injectors are different too.

But people love to blame the whole thing on Navistar...

They're ok......but the 6.0 was a fiasco.

I much prefer the 7.3. I don't think anyone can argue that engine was bullet proof.

Personally, truck have gotten so unnecessarily big lately, I think they all should get the Navistar DT466 and be done with it. That engine has been fantastic from the day my grandpa was appointed as Chief Engineer.

There is not a trip you take that you don't pass a truck powered by a DT466.

Im not liking some of the stuff with this one....the interior door panels, grille, and the 6.7 powerstroke badge are hideous! Otherwise not too bad...hopefully the new diesel works as well or better than expected....

Love it! Looks pretty good. Seeing the grill in actual life terms on camera it looks fairly better, but its still too much.. 3 bars at minimum would be the limit of all that chrome.

Major fail to that guy for clearly displaying its FX4 decals on the bed, then when he opened the door calling it a 'Lariat', then claiming its FX4 when he discusses the transfer case and rear diff lock. I do like how the headlamps are swept back to the fenders more like in the F150, but the tail lamps are too small, and boring. The era of larger tail lights is now in session. Needs bigger lights such as the GMt 900 trucks, those are freaking huge. And they need to match the lines of the fronts, like the new F150s tails do for the front.

One thing though, quiet diesel = sound fail, Loud diesel idle, :naughty:

Four cup holders for the front two passengers? :wtf:

Just because you can...doesn't mean you should.

Nearly every truck has 4 cup holders up front, even yours does... At least it should. My 05 HD had console cup holders and another set down on the floor near the transfercase shifter. They just aren't side by side, but in this new SD i'll agree it is usual looking seeing 4 holders by each other, but unlike the F150 which has them pop out from the dash, or in your case, the holder infront of the jump seat down on the floor. But lets face it, cup holders are change and phone holders most of the time.

Na they're both complete different packages. Leather is standard in Lariat, but FX4 is standard in sport cloth, leather optional.

Guess so, seems like not only do the engine stats in automakers matter, but who has the most cup holders is next in line

Hell in the 80s my parents had a 86 Trans Am as a daily driver, and they had NO cup holders. I only use one, two if i have my phone in the other.

I could understand it if the drink holders were different sizes...you know...one for the big gulp, one for the Evian, one for the Red Bull and one for the beer.

Then it would make sense. But having a half-dozen cup holders all the same size is like buying a vehicle with 7 wheels. Sure, you can only use 4 at a time, and have one as a spare...but why do you need the other two?

It really shows where the design priorities are. IF the manufactures spent half the time making the vehicle better rather than stuffing them with cup holders...they wouldn't be in the spot their in today.

Oh come on Darkanion, he has a point, can you imagine the countless hours the engineers spend designing cupholders and since it's the same engineers as the ones designing the drivetrain, just think how much better these trucks could be if they only had 2 cupholders instead of 4.

That's right! There's only one team doing the whole vehicle! I forgot about that, "since they're in such bad shape," everyone has to multi-task now! I bet that's why the taillights are so small and the exhaust isn't louder.........!

Those are basically the same tail lights the SD's have had since 2000. Looks like they may have reworked them a little, but overall the same shape and look as the 97-03 F-150's. The SD's shared tailgates and tail lights with the F150 back then.

As far as too many cupholders, I'd have to disagree. The Honda my wife and I traded didn't have enough and the Nissan we replaced it with doesn't have enough. The ones the Nissan have are too damn close together to put normal size drinks in. So IMO Cupholders FTW!
