How To Embed YouTube Videos

WooHoo! YouTube Video embeds have been enabled.


Here's a quick rundown on how this works:

When using the editors to create a post, you'll now notice a red and white "Play" button that will automatically place "YT" (YouTube) tags in your post. All you'll need to do to embed your video is to place the last portion of the YouTube video URL in between the tags.

You can see the play buttons in the images below.

Now, here's an example:

If the YouTube URL you want to post is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5_hW5cQaGY

All you need to post between the tags is: y5_hW5cQaGY y5_hW5cQaGY

It's that easy!:D

*NOTE: Be sure not to format the text in between the tags - No bold, italics, etc. :thumbs:

Is it possible to allow embedded Photobucket videos? I saw some Auto Media Embedding threads at vBulletin.org, but you have to be licensed to view the code - wasn't sure if you guys had access to it or not.

I have taken a look into this mod and while it is possible to to allow the embedding of PB vids, as well as many other media formats, it also requires server-side processing that, for now, we'd prefer to leave available for normal processes as the site grows and expands.

Once we grow more familiar with the limitations of our hosting provider (They've been great so far, BTW), and are more certain of the site's ability to handle large amounts of traffic, we can reevaluate.

For now, YouTube will be our only embeddable video source to keep things simple. It is the most popular choice across the Internet anyway. We just need to make sure things continue running smoothly before getting too crazy.

Great suggestion though and something we'll certainly keep in mind. :thumbs:
